It’s a debatable point but the most popular genre in movies these days is probably action; Try and find one channel on a typical night that is not playing a police-centred drama. But whether it’s a small network show or a blockbuster movie, the key to success is attention to detail; You or your cast have to look the part to make the audience buy into the plot; And to achieve the right look you need the right gear – Put your square-jawed hero in a Tactical Jacket and you’ll grab their attention right from scene one.
The big drawback, as always, is cost; A lot of Producers want to go cheap – and that’s exactly what they will get: The results will be tacky, the reviews will be worse and that ‘boys in blue’ film will land them well in the red. So if you’re lucky enough to get such a role and you value your gift, make sure the budget has room for good wardrobe. It’s really not that hard to find.
