A Sad Fall from Grace

madisonaveAccording to our friends at Variety, ‘Trust Me’s steady and inexorable slide towards already overdue cancellation continues apace. In this – only its second week on the air – it lost 65% of the lead-in audience from ‘The Closer’, reaching only a laughable 1.9m viewers.

With the exception of all ‘Reality’ TV, which any sane being should hate with the crushing intensity of an imploding sun, I don’t dislike many TV shows; But I could turn the detestation of Trust Me’s entire insulting and repugnant existence into something approaching a new-found religion. For decades, those who manage TV have gleefully employed every exploitative tactic their malnourished minds could conceive to spoon-feed the audience to their idolized sponsors.

And with ‘Trust Me,’ it’s come back to bite them.

With less than two-million people watching after less than a month it’s inconceivable that those for whom TNT built this obsequious travesty could not reach their consumer in far better ways. The trick is not working, the audience is leaving and their precious new paradigm will be dead within weeks; Hopefully killing their jobs in the process.

And if that were the case, reviewing this shameful debacle would almost be worth half the pain.
