In news which offers a glimmer of hope that even the misguided souls who call Bill O’Reilly a reporter may actually possess some brain cells that work, Fox is said to be in final discussions with Wanda Sykes about launching a late-night Saturday comedy show, as a way to replace ‘Mad TV.’
Scheduled to bow in the fall, the show will feature a panel of recurring guests with whom Wanda, 43, will debate topics from pop-culture to political news, plus some segments where she’s out in the field, meeting the ‘peeps,’ or so says the Hollywood Reporter.
If it comes to fruition this would be a significant departure from the three major networks’ long-held belief that shows of this kind are the exclusive preserve of straight, white men. But how it will affect Wanda’s hugely popular role on, “…Old Christine,” is yet to be announced.
