In news that should inspire a national sigh of relief that might almost invoke a Tsunami, a State Judge has spared us all serious pain and banned ex-Illinois Governor, Rod Blagojevich from pursuing his next grab at fame on NBC’s new reality import, “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.”
US District Judge [and the nation's new hero] James Zagel refused to let Blago travel to Costa Rica for the shoot, saying, “I don’t think this defendant fully understands and I don’t think he could understand the position in which he finds himself.”
Altogether now, ‘Duh!’
In the new show, contestants will be dropped in the depths of the jungle and made to perform hard, physical tasks to win each round and avoid going home. And as he’s facing 25-years to life if convicted, you can see how Blago would be keen to do that.
NBC had even offered to hire former US Marshals to guard the defendant during the shoot, but that was not enough for the Judge. The only way Rod, 52, could still do the show was to have the whole thing made inside the US. But MSNBC has confirmed that idea died in a press release issued today.
Rod’s latest – and assuming swift justice, his last – grab at fame is therefore dead in the water – There’s no right of appeal, so we’re saved.
