Carrie Prejean rightly fired as Miss USA

From ABC News, seven minutes ago:

“There will be no more second chances for former Miss California, Carrie Prejean. The Miss USA runner-up has officially been fired – this time with the blessing of pageant owner Donald Trump.”

This ridiculous farce has been rumbling on since early May. She insulted gay people, then bathed in the press her bigotry caused, claiming she was the victim and blaming the world. Now, at last, her platfrom is gone, and after a few days of self-serving whinging and well-scheduled tears she should sink once again into the void of obscurity that is all she deserves.

Expect to see her in six months on a late-night commercial, selling the most effective diet pills to look that bizarre.

Notwithstanding Ms. Prejean’s being stripped of her title, how much longer will she be used – exploited, even – by the weird and unwholesome elements dominating the homophobia movement?

(Especially the sort who claim to be acting for G-d, Country and Family. IIBC, the promoters of one New York rally against homosexual marriage acknowledged their agenda was actually against outright homosexuality.)

I don’t agree with her views, but surely she has the right to express her point of view? If someone says something that you disagree with, is that a valid excuse to strip them of their title? I think not.

I don’t know what she did to lose her crown (and, frankly, I don’t really care), but I hope it wasn’t for having an opinion.
